If you’ve been looking for the eclecticness of Gilles Peterson with a touch of Golden Era HIpHop and a sprinkle of Bay Area flavor, then walk thru Mua during First Friday Art Murmur and experience something for the grown and sexy. DJ Cross and heyLove* are hungry to give the East Bay what they been waiting for: cuisine, a deep soulful atmosphere, imbibes, art, and beautiful people. “I’m gonna lay it down cuz there ain’t much time. If you hide your feelings, then they’re hard to find…I wanna know what’s on your mind…” – Rakim

S.C.U.B.A. is a collaborative painting duo based in San Francisco. They’re currently experimenting with creative interventions of public spaces through renegade installations of their miniature paintings on city sidewalks. You can take a look at their work at www.drawingwhiledriving.com. Friend of S.C.U.B.A., artist/muralist Yukako Ezoe will also be displaying her work. See more of her work here yukakoezoe.com

Yep, you read that right. William Saroyan (1908-1981) the would-be Pulitzer Prize winning author for the play “The Time of Your Life,” (he turned it down, wow) was also a prolific painter (top image). Come see some of his work at Mua.
Ross Simonini (lower image) an editor for the Believer magazine and a member of the San Francisco band, New Villager, will have his work up as well. Check out his latest show at Lower Deck curated with Katie Bachner, Johansson Projects, Oakland.
Come by tonight 01.01.2010. We will be open starting at 7:00 serving a limited (AKA hangover) menu featuring grilled cheese sandwiches!

Mark Inglis Taylor and Jon Schroeder installing their new exhibit “We’re House” @ Mua. Come check it out First Friday and throughout the month of December.
Come celebrate with us. Costumes encouraged, and prizes awarded. Of course excellent musical line up:

Apparently at the end of the evening, not everyone has left Mua. Our clean up crew reports multiple sightings of a resident ghost, here shown in a visualization by a 12 year old from third-hand information. The ghost may possibly also look like an old guy with a beard.
In any case, he seems lonely—join him for dinner this weekend, kitchen open until 1am.
