It’s that time again! Oakland Art Murmur is a group of galleries in Oakland that have openings the first Friday of every month. This month Mua is participating with “Painting Now, 2009” produced by Petra Bibeau of Maniac Gallery featuring artists Justin Olerud, Jessica Schmidt, Kara Joslyn, Georgia Carter and Erin Allen. Spray-painted letters that spell out “Mua” on an unassuming building near Oakland’s auto row are the only sign that you’re about to stumble into Uptown’s latest happening nightspot. Smaller letters above that announce “lunch, dinner” and, most important, “bar,” further hint at the fun that awaits.
